Scolnick passed away

I have heard a couple of times that Dr. Joe Scolnick passed away last night in his sleep of a massive heart attack...does anyway else know if this is true? A buddy of mine said that he didn't come to class this morning so they all left....if it is true, it sure is a sad day @ UVA-Wise

Guys, just left my boss' office and indeed Dr. Scolnick has died...most on campus are having trouble with this ordeal...When he didn't show up in class today, a girl went and had someone phone his house...when there was no answer they called the campus police...Steve McCoy, chief of campus police went to Scolnick's home and looked through the window where he saw Scolnick sitting in a slumped over position in a chair...they still believe he had a massive heart attack...unfortunately this a day of mourning.

I still haven't heard anything on the services but if I find out tonight or tomorrow I will let everyone know. Just keep his family and the community in your prayers.

Sad news indeed...I enjoyed his classes more than any other professor up there.

you know the funny thing about this, is that today my girlfriend was talking to a friend of her's who is a poly sci major and that girl had been to talk to Scolnick yesterday about the class....Scolnick stated that some people though he should retire (they meant it in a good way), and he stated that yeah some may make fun of him for watching wrestling and loving cartoons, that he would not retire for another 200 million years...what a sense of humor he had!!
